Al Ain residents were treated to rare August rain on Monday afternoon, bringing a brief but welcome break from the summer heat. According to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), convective clouds developed over the eastern region, resulting in scattered showers across parts of the city.

The downpour, which lasted until the early evening, was accompanied by hazy and dusty conditions in some areas. The NCM issued yellow and orange weather alerts for convective cloud activity, urging the public to stay cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility.

Abu Dhabi Police also reminded motorists to drive safely and keep a safe distance between vehicles as slippery road surfaces were reported following the rain.

While temperatures remained high β€” with humidity levels peaking at around 85% in some locations β€” the showers provided a temporary respite from the intense summer heat.

Weather forecasters expect similar cloud formations in the coming days, particularly over eastern and southern parts of the country, meaning Al Ain and surrounding areas could see more brief showers before the week’s end.
