Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new intercity bus service, Route E308, connecting Stadium Bus Station in Dubai to Al Jubail Bus Station in Sharjah. The service began on May 2, 2025, with a fare of AED 12 per one-way trip. This initiative aims to offer a more affordable and reliable alternative to driving for thousands of daily commuters between the two emirates.

The E308 bus runs daily from early morning to late night, operating approximately every 30 minutes. The total journey time between the two cities is expected to be around 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic. This route is a major step forward in addressing the persistent congestion on major roads like E11 and E311, which have long frustrated residents traveling between Sharjah and Dubai.

The launch of the E308 coincides with the RTA’s broader revamp of its public transportation network, which includes adjustments to 14 other routes across the city. These changes aim to enhance integration between bus, metro, tram, and marine transport services, as part of Dubai’s ongoing mobility strategy. The improvements are designed to not only improve commute times but also encourage more residents and workers to shift from private cars to public transport.

Public feedback has been largely positive, especially from commuters who regularly endure long hours in traffic. Many have taken to social media to praise the move, calling it a much-needed relief and a step toward solving long-standing transportation challenges between the two emirates. However, some commuters have noted that the E308 currently does not accept Nol cards, requiring cash payments, which could be improved in future iterations of the service.

By introducing Route E308, Dubai is not only addressing a pressing transportation need but also reinforcing its commitment to building a smart, sustainable, and interconnected city. As the UAE continues to grow economically and demographically, infrastructure projects like this play a critical role in supporting daily life and future development.
