A mild earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale was recorded in the Al Sila’ region of Abu Dhabi just after midnight on August 8, 2025. The event occurred around 12:03 a.m. local time and was confirmed by the National Centre of Meteorology’s seismic monitoring network.

The tremor was shallow, with an estimated depth of 3 kilometers, making it lightly felt by residents in the nearby area. Despite some noticing the shaking, authorities have confirmed there were no injuries, damages, or interruptions to daily life.

This incident follows another minor earthquake earlier this week, when a 2.0-magnitude quake was detected near Khor Fakkan on August 5. That tremor also passed without any consequence.

Although the UAE does not sit on a major fault line, it occasionally experiences low-magnitude seismic activity due to regional tectonic shifts. These events are typically weak and closely monitored by local authorities to ensure public safety.

Officials have reassured the public that there is no cause for concern and that all infrastructure remains safe and stable. Emergency services remain on standby, but no interventions were required in this instance.
